Praised by Pedagogues and audiences alike for his “spontaneous yet delicate interpretations”, Chinese pianist Linus(Kaicong) Li received his early music training at the age of four and subsequently went on to study with Qixun Zhou, Zhenjiang Chen, and Xuemei Zheng. As a concert recitalist, he has performed across China and North America, appearing at Shanghai Heluting Concert Hall, and Theatre of Hong Kong Youth Square, among other prominent venues.
Linus received his Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music diploma at the age of 15, making him one of the youngest scholars from mainland China to be awarded by the prestigious Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music(UK). In 2018 he was invited to the Todi International Music Masters in the heart of Italy and appeared with the Napolinova Youth Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Francesco Di’Ovdio. His subsequent festival appearances include the Invitation to Music Festival presented by the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, and the third edition of the Zhuhai International Mozart Competition, where he was a member of the young jury. When all concert activities abruptly stopped in Spring 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, Linus went online to record the complete Burgmuller etude studies in lecture recitals with Mrs. Xuemei Zheng, events curated exclusively by Yamaha China. Also an active chamber musician, he performed in numerous collaborative arts concerts during his residency at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in the 2020-2021 academic year and beyond. He is immensely grateful to the guidance provided by Prof. Haizhu Dong and Shiwei Li and their influence of piano duo music on him.
Linus has also distinguished himself in the masterclasses of Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Marian Hahn, and Gabriel Kwok, to name a few. Acclaimed German pianist Bjorn Lehmann has praised him as a pianist “who plays meltingly lovely, and interprets music in the calmest but most sensitive approach.”
Linus has recently completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the guidance of renowned Australian-American pianist Corey McVicar and will endeavor in his Master of Music in piano at the prestigious American institution beginning in Fall 2024.
